Julie earned her BA in Women’s and Gender Studies at Columbia University in 2013 and continued these studies the following year during a Graduate Fellowship at the Consortium on Gender, Security and Human Rights in Boston, MA. After completing her fellowship, Julie returned to New York City, pivoting from academia in order to work directly with elementary and middle school youth as an experiential and Social and Emotional Learning educator. She has grown as a person, an artist, educator, and caregiver from her experiences working with children, families, and teachers through youth development organizations in Cuzco, Peru (2012), Boquete, Panama (2013), Boston (2014), New York City (2014-2017), and Philadelphia (2017-present). Her enthusiasm for art and love for working with children led her to move to Philadelphia in 2017 to pursue her Master’s degree in Art Education at Tyler School of Art. She completed this degree in 2019 and is currently an Art teacher in Philadelphia.
